Addiction Indicators

At our Caron Texas treatment facility, we have a staff of experienced addiction specialists who are skilled at asking our patients the type of questions that help them to better understand their addiction, which helps to tailor their personalized treatment plan. We also know that many people with addiction issues, along with their families and loved ones, can be helped by knowing the right questions to ask – the answers may help to point out a problem that is best solved with proper treatment by a professional.

Whether you are the loved one of someone with an abuse or addiction concern, or an individual who is concerned about themselves, the following are some of the questions that can help draw attention to some of the indicators of abuse or addiction:

  • Has drinking and drug use caused relationship problems for the individual?
  • Has drinking or drug use caused problems with their primary responsibilities (work, school, caring for their children)?
  • Have they ever tried to stop using alcohol or drugs but can't?
  • Has drinking or drug use caused any legal difficulties?
  • Has drinking or drug use caused them to suffer sickness (shakiness, vomiting, paranoia, depression, etc)?
  • Do they find it difficult to have a good time without using substances?
  • Has anyone besides you expressed concern about their alcohol or drug use?
