Nutrition

Nutrition and maintaining a well-balanced diet has been shown to be an essential part of substance abuse recovery.
In addition to the positive overall physical benefits, consistent and nutritious caloric intake helps to balance brain chemistry, helping to level out the previous chemical peaks and valleys. Studies performed by the University of Maryland Medical Center indicate that proper nutrition, including the addition of vitamins to raise the levels of those depleted by prolonged or intense alcohol consumption, can play an important role in recovery.
Caron Texas has a registered dietician available to help educate the patients on proper balanced nutrition. Furthermore, Caron provides dietary services for those with food allergies, food addictions, health-related diet issues, as well as those with religious dietary needs. Patients who keep Kosher diets, for example, will be able to maintain their diet while in residence at the Caron treatment facility.
Caron helps each interested patient develop a nutrition plan that both aids in their addiction recovery and also becomes a key part of their life after leaving the facility. If a patient has specific dietary needs or concerns, Caron’s on-staff dietician will make sure those needs are adequately met.
