Religious Dietary Needs
Religion and culture can play a large part in the food that people eat every day. The connection between body, mind and spirit differs amongst religions. Some doctrines prescribe specific food and drink, while other doctrines offer choices. Some religious ceremonies and observances may require fasting or communal meals.
Diet can be a large part of religious principles and practice, which means that people may be prohibited from eating certain foods due to their religious beliefs. For example, Muslim and Jews can't eat pork, Hindus don't eat beef, and practicing Buddhists can be vegetarian.
Being able to adhere to dietary restrictions that are part of their religious beliefs can assist patients in drug and alcohol treatment. Caron Texas makes every effort to accommodate our patients with specific dietary requirements due to their religious system of belief. Our patients are able to make dietary choices that can assist in their road to recovery from addiction.
