Addiction Counseling

At Caron Texas we believe that each person who walks through the doors is a unique individual who has unique needs that can be met with an individual treatment plan that includes personalized addiction counseling.

We understand that people come from different backgrounds, cultures, families and belief systems and although they may share an addiction, their core issues are their own. Specialized addiction counseling helps the patient better understand and cope with the cognitive behavioral issues that may be obstacles to recovery.

In terms of addiction counseling services, the professional staff at Caron Texas will develop a treatment plan customized for each patient that takes into account their specific problems, background, issues and challenges. Special attention is paid to the possibility of dual disorders and conditions, cross-addictions, co-occurring conditions and other potential blocks to recovery. Armed with the patient’s treatment plan, the addiction specialists, mental health professionals, and medical staff at Caron Texas put that treatment plan into action, supporting the patient with the encouragement and assistance they need for a successful substance abuse recovery.

With this in mind, addiction counseling is an integral part of each patient’s substance abuse treatment. During a patient’s stay at Caron Texas, he or she is assigned an individual addiction counselor and they will also receive group counseling and participate in family counseling sessions. Whether it is individual counseling, group counseling or family counseling, each patient will be able to identify and explore personal issues in a safe, respectful and understanding environment. At Caron Texas, we believe this helps our patients build the strong foundation necessary for lasting change and recovery.

Individual addiction counseling gives the patient the special one-on-one connection with his or her personal counselor through all phases of the program. In addition to individual counseling treatment, the Caron Texas counselor is responsible for integrating the efforts of all personnel involved with the patient's treatment at the facility, either directly or peripherally, and for communication of treatment goals and progress.

Group addiction counseling allows the opportunity for patients to process what they learn in the Caron Texas program, in the form of open group discussions and educational lectures. We believe that addiction education is a key part of each individual’s treatment, allowing them to learn about addiction, what impacts it and more importantly what can be done for a successful recovery. Group counseling allows individuals undergoing alcohol treatment and drug rehab to experience getting support and feedback for personal addiction issues from the experiences of other patients.

At Caron Texas, we strive to include the patient’s family in the recovery process whenever possible. The family counseling component of a patient’s drug or alcohol treatment plan includes a separate family addiction education program. The first few days the family gets to learn about addiction, how it’s affected them and also what may be helpful in supporting the patient through recovery. During the final few days, the family and patient work together to more fully understand addiction treatment as it relates to family members and the patient’s recovery process. Through educational and experiential exercises, the family members are educated by medical staff, spiritual care, psychology, wellness staff and addiction counselors on the impact of addiction on the family in all these areas.

Personalized addiction counseling, comprised of individual counseling sessions, group counseling sessions and family counseling, is a cornerstone of the drug and alcohol treatment program delivered by Caron Texas.
