Research Partnerships

Caron is one of only two treatment centers affiliated with The University of Pennsylvania; additionally, Caron works directly with the Treatment Research Institute, one of the country’s pioneering addiction research organizations. Both affiliations afford Caron Treatment Centers the ability to provide cutting-edge addiction treatment, using the most effective and researched evidence-based practices, and to track patient outcomes so we are better able to recognize success and continue to improve upon it.

In an ongoing effort to explore alcohol and drug outcomes of Caron patients, Caron’s Research Department, partnering with the University of Pennsylvania, have been tracking the sobriety rates of patients for a number of years through surveys completed by Caron Recovery Care Service Specialists

What we have found to-date is that the longer Caron is able to stay involved in an individual’s recovery journey the chances for long term success improve. Also, staying in contact with patient’s family members is a key element to the ongoing sobriety of individuals. In addition, AA attendance is also important to one’s recovery. Decreases in AA attendance are correlated with decreases in sobriety.

Ongoing research continues with the University of Pennsylvania to confirm initial findings and also help to identify other factors that play a role in one’s successful recovery.
