Counseling

At Caron Texas, each patient is seen as a unique individual requiring a personalized addiction counseling and treatment plan. While many rehabilitation facilities attempt a one-size-fits-all approach, Caron Texas works with patients that come from different backgrounds, cultures, families and belief systems. Caron believes that even when patients may share an addiction, the core issues underlying that addiction are unique and require a personalized approach. Furthermore, this specialized addiction counseling approach helps patients understand how to cope with cognitive behavioral issues that often stand in the way of long-term substance abuse recovery.

Addiction counseling services at Caron Texas are an integral part of the customized treatment plans developed by the Caron Texas professional staff. These addiction recovery treatment plans take into account specific problems, backgrounds, issues and challenges. The Caron Texas staff also account for dual disorders and conditions, cross-addictions, co-occurring conditions and other potential blocks to recovery.

Once the treatment plan has been developed, each patient is assigned an addiction counselor. Working with one addiction counselor allows the patient to form a special one-on-one connection with that counselor as the patient progresses through the treatment program. The Caron Texas addiction counselor also serves as a central resource to coordinate the efforts of all Caron Texas personnel involved with the patient's addiction recovery treatment plan.

In addition, patients will participate in group and family counseling sessions as a part of the treatment program. Exposing patients to group and family counseling allows each patient to explore personal issues in a safe, respectful and understanding environment. More specifically, group addiction counseling allows patients to process what they have learned through educational lectures and group discussions. These group sessions also serve as a venue for patients to learn from the addiction recovery experiences of other patients.

Family counseling sessions are an integral part of a patient’s long-term drug or alcohol treatment recovery. The family education program is normally a five-day program. During the first two days, families learn about the disease of addiction and how they can best support the patient through recovery. For the remainder of the program, the family members work with the patient and addiction counselors to address any remaining addiction issues.

At Caron Texas, we believe that personalized addiction counseling comprised of individual, family and group counseling sessions, is a cornerstone of the drug and alcohol treatment program.
